PS  You have also confirmed that the Army record for William John Valentine is correct as the address is also 49  Blanche Street, Cardiff  :D.

Not exactly close to each other!  Oswestry is on the North Wales/Shropshire boarder, and Cardiff is about as far south in Wales as you can go.
