Hemphill, McCallister, Eaton
« on: Thursday 03 December 09 13:18 GMT (UK) »
I am interested in the tracing the antecedents of
Robert Hemphill who married Ellen Eaton in Killaig
Presbyterian Church 24 July 1902.

I found the couple in 1911 census 10 Brook Steet,
Coleraine. Robert Hemphill was born in county Antrim.
[One son was called Andrew Todd Hemphill so I suspect a Todd
connection somewhere]

Robert Hemphill's wife, Ellen Eaton was the daughter of Robert John Eaton and Mary Jane McCallister who were also married in Killaig Presbyterian church 11 January 1866 [I found several children in the IGI]. In 1911 there family was living in 17 Ardvarness, Drumcroon [not sure where this is?]

If memory serves me correctly Killaig Presbyterian is in
Aghadowey parish?

Any help would be much appreciated.

How much information do you want? Hemphills or Eastons? will be back later and check my notes if I know exactly what you're looking for.

Hi,
This may be what you are looking for

13 Aug 1867 William John Hemphill married Mary Jane Todd in Dunluce Presbyterian Church, Coleraine District.

I can find the following children, all born in Bushmills subdistrict except the last one who was born in Ballyclough, which may also be Bushmills subdistrict.

Martha 26 Jul 1869
Thomas 11 Jan 1871
William John 18 Sept 1872
William 23 Apr 1874
Mary 2 Nov 1879.

There may well be other children which I have not been able to find

Regards
Stewart, Irwin, Morrison, Haslett, Murrell - Dungiven area Co. Londonderry
Browne, Barrett -Co.Armagh
Neil, Smyth _Co. Antrim

William James Hemphill and Mary Jane Todd had at least 15 children but not sure exactly what's needed so will wait to hear from Gortinanima.

There is a Ballyclough in Aghadowey Parish but the Hemphills were in the one near Bushmills.

Thanks Aghadowey, Have just found that on Griffiths, spelling Ballyclogh. I notice that there is a Thomas Hemphill there who, according to Ancestry Ireland, may be the father of William John.

At the moment I am most interested in the Eaton and

First class Aghadowey,

I note a Robert McAllister Eaton and a Robert John Eaton both sons of Robert Eaton & Mary Jane
McAllister. I assume then that one died young?

Many thanks for you help!
