I hope I'm in the right county !!  ::)

I'm looking for Elizabeth Rowe c.1810 born in Rickmansworth Father - John Rowe mother - Maria Collyer both born Rickmansworth married William Cooper - I have them in 1841 at 17 York St Westminster St Margarets  London - but I'd like to know how to go backwards if possible !

I'd appreciate a steer in the right direction please !

Hi Annie,

For simplicity's sake I checked the IGI (familysearch) first for a birth for Elizabeth Rowe.

The closest is:
Betsy ROWE Bp 8 Sept 1811 Rickmansworth, dau of John Rowe & Maria .

From IGI:
John Rowe married Maria Collyer 17 Nov 1809 Rickmansworth

Same place, same town, same Batch number (C 072791 1653-1812) shows the birth of a John Rowe as well as the birth of Maria Collier (sic)

Following through on this batch appears to be a lovely lot of ancestors for you.

Of course, all will need to be checked as there's no way to guarantee that these are your lines - but they do look good so far but obviously can't be accepted at face value.

Hope thats a step in the right direction. If not, please ask for more info or clarification.  :D

Thanks again !

Hi,

Did you get any further with your Rowe family?  I live about 10 mins from Rickmansworth so can do a bit of digging for you.

There are quite a few old villages surrounding Rickmansworth which come under it's parish, so it is possible your ancestors lived in one of those.

Let me know.
