Elizabeth FRECKNALL (NETTLESHIP)
« on: Sunday 13 December 09 01:31 GMT (UK) »
Now continuing from my other post though with respect to Elizabeth Frecknall (b. 1842, East Retford), I can't find her at all after 1871. She married in 1864 at East Retford parish church to George NETTLESHIP, and in 1871, Elizabeth is living with her parents with a son George William Nettleship (b. 1868, Retford). However her husband George is nowhere to be found - and all three seem to vanish after the 1871 census.

Thanks,
Alexander

Hi, I had a similar situation with a family - the parents and 8 children of ages 25-mid teens.  They were in Lancs 1891 census then every single one had vanished by 1901.

I found them- eventually- in Rhode Island in 1891 USA census -they had just all arrived.

So don't give up, and do consider the possibility if they don't turn up in UK, for them to have emigtrated.

Thanks...the problem with that death for George (sr.) is that in 1871 Elizabeth said she was married, implying he was still alive. And the one for Elizabeth in 1871, I had seen that, but age 58 would be way out. Elizabeth would only have been 29 (I've checked the original image and it clearly says 58).

I'm thinking that Charlotte's idea that they immigrated seems most likely...but where to???? I checked the American census records and no sign of any of them there, and I checked with my library's subscription to see if there were any sign of them in Australia (where it seems a lot of my relatives ended up!), but couldn't find them there either. In fact compared to the number of Nettleships in the UK, I couldn't find all that many in the US or Australia.

Thanks,
Alexander
