Osprey & IsobelRuss.......many thanks indeed for your kindness in helping my search for information regarding William Keopky.   I am endeavouring to follow up all the variants of the surname which has probably been giving me problems!   Most of my searching has been through LDS and FreeBMD.....I was also following a lead in Wisconsin earlier this year!    I was able to establish that John Keopky, William's father, worked at Swansea Docks during early 1900s - the Mariner's Index was extremely interesting.   Thanks, Osprey, for the Nationalisation information which I will follow up.   You have both been so helpful

Hello WexDor,

You are looking for information Re William Keopky from Swansea.  I noticed your posting this evening the 12th June 2010. As a result I have just signed up to Roots Chat.com and am a very beginner on this form of communication.  Anyway to the point, my wife is the great granddaughter of William (Wilhelm) Koepke and we have just started out on our research for our family tree.  Formerly of 62 Sebastopol Street our Great Grandfather had a Greengrocer's Shop in Port Tennant Road.  He was born in Steffin, Wismar, Germany before moving to Swansea in the 1890's to work as a Sailmaker on Swansea Docks.  I would be very pleased to have a reply from you but please be aware I am very very new to this.

Hi, I understand from the postings that I am unable to send or receive messages until I have made more postings so I don't know how I going to communicate to WexDor at this time.

I am new to this I am having Dificulty navigating the site.

My Great Grandfather was William (Wilhelm) Koepke b. 29 Oct 1860 who married Mary Ann Mainwaring on 26 August 1894. 

They had a son William Koepke b.13 October 1895 who married Lilian May Purdue (my Grandparents) on 26 December 1918.

They had a son Ronald G Koepke b. 4 August 1921 (my Father).
