New screen - advice requested
« on: Sunday 27 December 09 11:08 GMT (UK) »
My Christmas pressie was a brand new screen for my PC as the old one had developed terminal malfunctions. This one is a 'wide' screen and the manual says the optimal setting is 1268x768 (may not be 100% correct in this, but I am sure you get the picture). Other settings lead to rather odd shaped pictures/icons etc. The problem about which I would like advice is that the RHS of the screen is outside the display, so the scroll bar and the close button are not visible. Any tips on how to resolve this?

Many thanks
Nick

As you can get to the left hand side of the screen, click on there and pull the sides inwards.  You will then get a smaller display and can move it towards the middle of your new screen so that you can see the RHS.  There is a way of "fixing" the size, I think you have to go to Tools, but I'm not sure.  I'm sure some techie will be on here soon to tell you how to do it properly.

My OH has a large screen for his PC and hasn't had any problems with it.

See Nick 29's answer number 6 on this thread for the technical way to resize the picture

Carol

That is what I have done and it hasn't worked as well as I would have liked. Clearly I didn't make that point clear in my original post, but thanks for your answer

The simplest way is to hold down the left shift key while at the same time dragging the window to the size you want on your screen using the mouse. Release the shift key  and the mouse button and when you close the window and then reopen it it will remain at the size you set it.

Thanks Falkryn, that works, although you have to do it on every applicati9on but at least it makes the screen functional

Happy New Year
