1841 Census Wrexham help if pos
« on: Sunday 27 December 09 15:58 GMT (UK) »
Happy Christmas to you all

I am spending some time sorting out a few lines for a friend and I have arrived at the 1841 census for Wrexham which I believe has not survived, or maybe a tiny proportion has.

I have a family in 1851 but unfortunately the children were not born until 1846 so I may only be looking for a couple or indeed just the father.

In 1851 I have Thomas EVANS born abt 1825 Wrexham and Mary his wife born about 1830 Marchwiel (I hope this is correct) Denbigh.

They have lived at these addresses

1851 - Tuttle Street, Wrexham Abbot, Denbighshire, Wales
1861 - 24 Wrexham Fechard, Wrexham Regis Denbighshire, Wales
1871 - 29 Mount Street, Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, Wales
1881 - 35 Mount Street, Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, Wales

Thomas is a Shoemaker.

If anyone has any surviving 1841 census would it be possible to look for Thomas.

Any help is always appreciated.

Hi there

I think Clwyd Family History Society hold surviving Wrexham census records for 1841, but check this out first as the surname  is mentioned and all the streets you listed in 1851 - 1881

Hi there

I don't know why the link won't work, but if you use google search and type in Wrexham 1841 census, look for the mineralhistory one titled Hynafiad Wrecsam etc and you should get access to it.

Hi DeeN,

This is the link but it is only a list of surnames so you will still need a lookup as there will no doubt be several Evans'  ;)
http://wrexham.minerahistory.com/1841_town_census.html

Hopefully someone with access to the 1841 Wrexham town centre census will be along soon :)

Gosh that was a lucky find in a bookshop, we Family Historians have much to thank the sharp-eyed person.

I'm researching the same family however the surname is Hayes & not Evans. I hope that helps.
