WW1 Service Deaths - Listed where?
« on: Monday 14 March 05 15:04 GMT (UK) »
Can somebody help me.  If somebody died whilst serving in France in WW1, would they have their death registered in the PRO listings?  If so, would the be 'timed' for the quarter when their death occurred?

I have a an ancestor, I know when he died re CWGC website.  But would like to tie up with a death certificate.  Have looked at the Quarter he would have died and noticed that all deaths are for UK.  So wondering what happened for the servicemen.

Regards

KA

I found mine on 1837 online.

The death certificate I got had no more information than was included on cwgc.org though.

Thanks Sue,

I've worked it all out now, and found where I am meant to go.  Hadn't noticed that WW1 Overseas icon before.

I though perhaps it wouldn't have any more information.  But I'm on a process of consolidation a the moment.  Less frustrating than the brick walls.  At least you get a result.

Many thanks for that.
