What info can i get from social security numbers from 1940's
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 15:51 GMT (UK) »
I have obtained copies of pension claims for both my great grandmothers from around the 1940's. This was from their husbands company files to obtain widow pension (Guinness archieves). What kind of records does the social welfare office in dublin keep, and how much information would they give me does anyone know?
Im sure they would have been required to produce birth or baptism records as proof but would they be kept on file or just presented to welfare office as proof? One of my great grandmothers on the pension claim shows she was born in new york city so any extra details i can find would be great to track her US roots.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried to track records in Dublin using social welfare records?
