NAAFI
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 21:07 GMT (UK) »
HI

i have searched and read posts on the NAAFI but have not found an answer to my query! :-[

I wonder if anyone can help?  My g-grandfather was a captain (?) in the NAAFI during and after WW2.  He was in the NAAFI
for 56years.

I know it is not strictly military, but does anyone know if there are any 'service' records available and where they would be held?

One would imagine there would be some sort of records as these people were 'posted' to various places to cater for the armed forces in theatres of war.

Many thanks
Sara

If he was abroad as part of his NAAFI service then I believe he would have been part of the Expeditionary Forces Institute. Hence a member of the RASC.

It would be worth contacting the MoD to check for records:

If he was a "member" of the RASC his rank and promotions may have been gazetted. What was his full name?

hi
his full names was sidney alfred tompkins.
I have lots of info from WW1, his pension records and service records from army  and would like to get a bit of detail about his later life if possible.

I will look into the RASC  and see if i can get any further
