Bray,
His name was GEORGE FAULKNER and he founded Faulkner's Dublin Journal.
"In 1770, Faulkner was elected alderman of the city of Dublin.
He handed his business over to his former apprentice, Thomas Todd.
Faulkner died on August 30, 1775 without issue." from Wikipedia

Hi Ken
Yes, George Frederick Yeates 1870-1955 was the son of Horatio Yeates 1834-1907.
George Mitchell Yeates sons were Francis Samuel Yeates 6 Feb 1824-12 Sept 1825
Edward Yeates c1827-?
George Andrew Yeates 3 Aug 1830-3 Feb 1914
Stephen Mitchell Yeates 27 May 1832-27 Dec 1901
Horatio Yeates 10 March 1834-23 Aug 1907.
George Mitchell Yeates also had 5 daughters. The youngest, Rebecca Yeates 7 Jan 1836-18 Aug 1923 married George Dixon 7 July 1814-11 Sept 1871.
George Dixon died when his youngest son, Henry Horatio Dixon was only 2. I've read that Rebecca was very determined that her sons receive the best of education even though she was raising them alone.
George Dixon & Rebecca Yeates had 4 sons and 3 daughters, Jane, Mary and Maud.
Yes, Henry Horatio Dixon was alive until 20 Dec 1953.
James Dixon's letter to George Frederick Yeates dated 26 Novem 1939 says " George Wyclif died in last March and of course she misses him very much. " I'm not sure why you would've had 1889 as his death date.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything.
Katie

Thanks Katie,
I think you've answered all my questions (as usual).
By the way, looks like we got the floods this time.

Hi Katie,
About the family of Andrew & Mary- James Dixon found 11, as did Bray, and I
also began with 11.
But after making a list of all the entries from the IGI Index (what else have we got ?) I sorted them out and came up with six. This agrees with Martha's Spence's journal. I explained this in my replies Nos. 9-11 recently.
There may have been others who died young or went away, that Martha did not know. Also, there's no guarantee that her journal is accurate or authentic,
but, until we can get baptism records for the early Yeates, I'm sticking with six children.
Regards,
Ken

I've been rechecking and found a few errors in my Yeates tree.
Jonathan, the eldest brother of Andrew Yeates, was born abt 1719 and died 25.3.1779. His will was proved in 1778. (THIS MUST BE WRONG- PERHAPS IT WAS WRITTEN IN 1778)
He married 13.1.1743 Susan or Susannah Bagnell at Pierstown, Co Meath.
Their son Jonathan b.1751, mar. Margaret  Dolton 15.11.1776 Dublin.
This is based on entries in the IGI Index.

To Bray
I don't know what No.6 means, but the father of Andrew b.1735 & Jonathan 1719 was William, born abt 1690, but some people say Andrew.

Local knowledge needed- Dublin
« Reply #25 on: Tuesday 30 March 10 00:51 BST (UK) »
I have the Death Cert. of a Margaret Yeates, widow, of 79 Pembroke Rd , reg.
District of Donnybrook, Dublin South. She died on 10.5.1870, age 'about 78',
Gentlewoman. No other details of value.
I sent off for this cert. in the hope that it might be Margt Faulkiner, who married Kendrick Yeates in 1802.
But she would need to be born 1785 at the latest, so would have been 85 in 1870. Not impossible, but I need more evidence.
Kendrick was probably born at Balscadden, Whitestown, and lived in Stafford St Dublin, Parish of St Mary's.
I have found a Pembroke Rd in Ballsbridge, could this be the same ?
Any help appreciated.

K.C.

The Irish Times for 12th May 1870 on Page 8 records the death of Margaret Yeates (Widow) with a Francis Askin given as her son in law at 79 BallsBridge      (then Co. Dublin). The death of the son in law             Francis Asken (sic) is recorded on 15th May 1877 and the demise of Mary (his widow)   is recorded on 15th January 1883.
