Tracing "Jolly" Family
« on: Monday 11 January 10 20:42 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,
I am researching a Mary Ann Jolly Born c1854 in Brightlingsea, Essex,  (Her father a Charles Jolly)
She married a John Lanceley c1840 (Lancelot/Lansley) in 1871 Colchester Barracks.

Children:  Ada Alberta c1873
                Charles Joseph c1874
                William c1876

She was John's first wife, having died in 1882 age 28yrs, he then remarried in September 1883 to a Annie Collingridge.

Would anyone have any info on Mary Ann Jolly or her family?  Many thanks

jo

Hi,

FreeBMD has this birth registration:

Mary Ann Jolly     MarQ  1854     Lexden    4a    238

Copy of the cert, if you think this is your Mary Jolly, will show the name of her mother.

You could then look for the marriage of her parents.

Hi there
Yes, appears to be aged 7 and 1871 Census shows her as 18 and a Servant, Colchester....just had a look back through my notes, I have her father as Jonathan Jolly and her mother as Elizabeth Hockley Born c1835 and they look to have married 1852?.  I have got that many bits of paper at the moment lol.  I am not sure of her siblings, possibly 3 brothers, Jonathan 1857, William 1858 and George 1861.

Thanks.

You say in your initial post that her father was Charles?
