Hello Everyone

Samuel John Rix c1878 Married Ada Alberta Lanceley c1872 on 24/12/1899 Bromley Parish, All Hallows, Poplar.
Children:

John Charles Rix Baptised 06/10/1903 All Hallows, Devons Road, Tower Hamilets

Arthur Edward Rix Baptised 27/01/1901 St Augustine, Died Dec 1902 Age 1 (Ref: Poplar 1c 345)

Frederick Rix Baptised 13/09/1903 All Hallows, Devons Road, Death Dec 1903 Age 0 (Ref: Poplar 1c 322)

The above two look to have been twins.  Q - why would they have been baptised on different days?

Horace Rix Baptised 07/02/1906 Stain Michael and All Angels, Bromley, Tower Hamlets.  Died 1979? Chelsea London, Address 50 Railway Street, Father's occupation was a Carriage Cleaner.

Any info on the above, re their actual date of births etc would be great, and if the surviving children married and their children.

Many thanks.
jo

Probably because Edith was very ill and needed to be baptised quickly given that she died in the same quarter in which she was baptised

You would need to buy their birth certs to get their exact birth dates

Re: marriages etc - freebmd transcriptions now cover into the early 1930's so you could check for their marriages

Hi Jo,

John Charles Rix was my grandfather but he was known as Jack. He married my grandmother who came from Amersham and he lived there until his death in 1967. He had 2 daughter's Cynthia Jean (my aunt) and Lena my mother. Lena died in 1987 and Jean in 2009.

I thought that he was a twin, but I note there is no mention of this in your list of children. Could it be that the person who died in 1977 was the twin?

There was a story in our family that a family member, maybe his father, Samuel John Rix, was the black sheep of the family. The story goes that he came from a very wealthy family and was educated at Eton, but he didn't want to tow the family line and ultimately had nothing further to do with the family. If you can throw any light on this that would be great.

My grandfather was also a bit of a black sheep who also  didn't have much to do with his family.I'll be very interested to hear your comments.

Sue

Hi All

Samuel John Rix and Ada where my grandads, grandad parents.

They went on to have another son called Charles Rix in 1911 he died in 1976.

My grandad remembers an uncle Ted coming to stay, and his mum telling him that was his dads brother but I can't seem to find a "ted"

If anyone has any more information that would be great
Thanks Carla
