Familysearch has a few submitted records on this Family and I think incorrectly have all of the childrens Mother as Isabella. They have;
Isabella 1811
Samuel 1821
Thomas 1821
Elizabeth 1827
Catherine 1829
It seems to me there were probably 2 wives. Possibly both had died by 1841 Census.
Catherine and  Elizabeths christenings are extracted although only approx 6mths apart.
As Thomas is not born in County he could have married in any County to Isabella and Elizabeth.
As Samuel was born Yorks that helps confirm this.

Not much help I'm sorry.

Trish :)

Hi

I have more information about Thomas Wade his middle name Henry and he was still alive in 1879 because he was an executor of a will, and he lived at Athole Villa, Town Green, Aughton.

However I still can't confirm his birth or marriage to Elizabeth.

and is what Trish has written before still a possibility

Strange - can you be sure that the Thomas Wade - Executor in 1879, is the same Thomas who you say was

He is an executor on his son in laws mothers will( Alice Behn), unless it may be a brother of catherine ann, maybe I jumped to this conclusion without thinking it thru. As yes it did say he was deceased on catherine wedding certificate.

How do I go about obtaining a birth certificate before 1837?

Civil registration only began in 1837 so there are no birth, marriage or death crtificates prior to that date.

Parish registers are a valuable source of information although they don't give as much information as the later certificates did.  If it is the baptism for St Peter's that you want, the Liverpool Record Office is currently closed while the archives are moving to alternative accommodation, however, you could enquire with either Huyton or Crosby Library to see if they hold the appropriate film, otherwise you could order it from the LDS to view at your local centre, which you can find here.  http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp

Have you actually followed the family through the censuses? you didn't seem to be aware that they would have been in Aughton.

No I wasn't aware they were in Aughton, I will try that next time I go to the library.

Thanks for that other info

If you go to the library, it might be a good idea to check for any trade directories, I get the feeling that Thomas Henry Wade only lived at the Aughton address for a short while.

Referring back to earlier postings, it would seem that Catherine is your main line and yet we don't have much information on her, when she married, who her children were etc.

Looking at Thomas, we have him with the family in 1841, occupation clerk, birthplace uncertain.

1851 Village, Walton on the Hill, Lancashire
Thomas H Wade Head M 34 Clerk East India Merchant Yorkshire Amley
Elizabeth Wife M 32 Lancashire Everton

John B son 24 Clerk “ “
Jane Gaskell Servant 22 Domestic Servant Aughton “
RG10; Piece:  3831; Folio:  42; Page:  76

It seems very coincidental that the servant was born in Aughton – I was wondering if the premises in Aughton that Thomas Henry had in 1879 could have been an office rather than residential.

In 1851 we have Catherine, age 21, living with her brother Samuel.  She marries John F Behn later that year.

1861 38 Johnson Street, Kirkdale, Lancashire
John F Behn Head M 36 Commercial Traveller Liverpool Lancashire

Ernest T son 9 “ “ “
Charlotte daur 7 “ “ Aughton

RG10; Piece:  3870; Folio:  52; Page:  12

1881 Town Green, Aughton, Lancashire – all born Lancashire Liverpool
John F Behn Head M 57 Grocer
Catherine A Wife M 53
Mary J daur 26
Louisa C daur 24
Thomas H son 22 Clerk (unemployed)
Ernest J son 19 Wholesale Grocer’s Clerk
Charlotte daur 17
Ada daur 15
Jack Knowles Nephew 3
RG11; Piece:  3744; Folio:  72; Page:  38

There are a few holes to pick at here which hopefully will tie things up for you.

In 1851 with Thomas there is a “niece” Elizabeth Lewis age 15 – who are her parents?
In 1881 with John and Catherine Behn there is a “nephew” Jack Knowles age 3 – who are his parents ?
In 1871 where is Mary J Behn, should be age 16 – if she was staying with relatives it might tie them in.

I suspect Thomas may have been staying in Aughton with his sister, perhaps after the death of his wife.  Probable death for Elizabeth Wade Q4 1880 Ormskirk 8b 535, age 61.  Ormskirk would be the registration district to cover Aughton.
