Hi,

Firstly there's probably no better place to start than the 'tips on getting started' on this very board.  The links below will give you help and information on getting started and birth/marriage certificates for your Gt-Grandparents which you need to confirm their parents names.

Also try the 1901 census which is online (www.census.pro.gov.uk).

I've only searched the free index, but have found the following family which would appear to include your Gt-Grandfather living at Gt. Finborough, Suffolk - this is from the index only - if you want to check the relationships between these people you will need to pay to see the actual copy.

Walter Chambers, 30, born Eye Suffolk, stockman on farm
Maud Chambers, 22, born West Creeting Suffolk
Frederick Chambers, 4, born Eye Suffolk
Lily Chambers, 2, born Gt Finborough Suffolk

There are quite a few Ellen Holdens listed born around 1883ish so you would need to know her birthplace.

Hope this is some help.

Regards,
Sasha.  :)

Hello Sasha,
Just to get you started. There are a load of Chambers in the 1891 census, about 40 born in Eye, Suffolk. I will concentrate on Ellen.
The most likely, is an Ellen Holden born 1886 in Cotton, Suffolk. let me know if this may be of interest, and I can provide further info.
Best

Sally,
Do not take any info as definite until you have proven it for yourself.
This site justs helps people get an idea where to start looking.
I recommend (and this is just purely personal) to add a person to your tree, with lots of comments, so when you visit the same info in a years time, you know why you may have addded a person. You will be surprised how far advanced you can be in your understanding of this subject after such a short period of time.
Persevere, this search is a lot easier if you make a note of every (maybe) useful bit of info, and then a year or even six months down the line, it all clicks.
