Hi Elaine,

I noticed this in the Kirkcolm MI's

--is the burial p(l)--e -- --hn M---(e)e --- -eparted ----(li)-- -he 9th ---------- ---- aged 48y---- (also Marion Carnochan his spouse who died the ----- --------- aged -9 years. Also in memory of John McCree Esqr their son erector of this stone who departed this life in Stranraer on the 7th of November 1815 in the 49th year of his age. John Kerr farmer Glengyre who was 83 years life tenant of it died there in December 1845 aged 84 years. Also his spouse Jean McCree died here aged 72 years.

The Glengyre fitted and Johns age near enough, wifes name not Margaret though (2nd wife?).

Hope it helps :)

Terry

I notice he was in Glengyre in 1841 with his son Alexander and aged 79 so the age above fits.

Hi

I came across an entry for the death of Alexander's son William in 1840. I had wondered if he would have been buried with his grandparents, but it looks less likely after Terry's posting.
http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~leighann/parishes/kirkcolm/deaths/1840_41.html

There is a possible entry on there for Margaret (it is under Mrs Kerr from Glengyre)
