I would imagine the war got in the way of his footballing career, he might have joined one of the many football regiments.

Do we know where he was between 1910 - 1912 ?

We need Gadget and her book, that will tell us if he played for other Football Leaugue clubs

I will ask at the National Football Museum but if past experience is anything to go by, I wouldn't expect an answer from them

I've been looking in my book (which only lists those who played in the Football League) and I have a Joseph E Hall (Jack) born circa 1890 but he doesn't fit with what Ronnie has found as he played Right and Left back for:

1909 PNE and Jarrow Croft
1910 Hull City
1911 and 1912 Barnsley
1914 Manchester City
1920 & 1921 Bristol Rovers
1922 Newport County

It doesn't quite fit but the only other ones are too young.

This seems strange because people who I know to have used the National Football Museum in Preston have received a lot of information including photographs and have only been asked for a donation.  There is however currently likely to be a problem as it is being moved, under protest, to Manchester.  Whether the same service will be available when the move is complete is also doubtful.

I would suggest that you offer them a copy of what you have.

I think you will find that because of Simon's close personal involvement with the Football Museum, if he isn't able to find anything out - it isn't there to be found !

He will sadly be stating fact - not supposition, through a third party.

I have found in my own dealings with other museums that if you can provide them with information which they may want to add to their records they are much more forth coming.

Simon - did you notice that the one that I found played for PNE early on. It might be worth checking your records on him  :)
