Aaron Maddocks, b.1854 Flintshire
« on: Wednesday 27 January 10 21:02 GMT (UK) »
I have an Aaron Maddocks b.1854 Breton, Flintshire marrying Mary unknown b.1855 Kinnerton - two children Emma 1875 and Aaron 1876 both born Kinnertonl. Then he marries Catherine Airth b.1858 Cerney Moss, Wrexham - 10 children born from Walter 1885 to Effie 1903 all born  Cerney Moss, Wrexham.  Can anyone tell me who were the parents of Aaron Maddocks b.1854, the maiden name of his first wife Mary b.1855 and the parents of Catherine Airth?
Regards
James

The first thing to say us I could find no Birth anywhere in Wales for a Catherine Airth.I did though find the Marriage of a Robert Airth and a Catherine Millington at Chester St Oswald in 1881.I also found the Death of a Robert Airth at Chester in 1882 whose Birthyear is given as c 1861.So your perhaps looking for the Parents of a Catherine Millington.I'll be back!

Great - sounds like we have the first wife - Mary Evans. I couldn't find anything on a Catherine Airth either, perhaps Millington could be the answer..... I'll await your next email.

I found living at Cerney in the Parish of Broughton in 1861 a Martha Millington given as born in Broughton on c 1838,given as a Widow.Living with her are a daughter Catherine given as born in Broughton in c 1859 and a son Peter what looks like five months old.RG9/4286/22/37.I also found on North Wales BMD the Marriage of Peter Millington and Martha Davies at Brymbo St Mary in 1858.

It looks as if Martha was not a Widow on 1861 after all!For I found in the 1871 Census living in the Parish of Bistre Flintshire, a Peter Millington given as born in Hawarden Flintshire in c 1838 and his Wife Martha given as born in Broughton  in c 1838.With them are a daughter Elizabeth given as born in Mold in c 1865 and daughter Selina given also as born in Mold in c 1870.RG10/5648/20/32.

The 1851 Wales census has the following in Bretton Village:

Aaron Maddocks, head, Widower, aged 43, Drover, born Bretton.
Elizabeth Maddocks, mother, widow, aged 87, housekeeper, born Bretton.

They have a family by the name of Youd with them, Thomas Youd, his wife and children. Thomas shown as Lodger.

Reference HO107/2172 Page 668.

I cannot find a census with Aaaron Maddocks junior with them on it. Aaaron Maddocks born 1854 is in Wervin, Cheshire on the 1871.

Given the rather unusual name Aaron and the fact Bretton was a small village, I would think this is his father. Did he remarry before Aaron was born in 1854?
