Hi Kris,

Thanks for those looks and yes the two pertaining to William James H Plante is my ggrandfather wildfred the son is my grandfather. They have missed the e off the surname, William James H Plante l could not find for sure his birth could be 1851/61, l tend to think 1861. Sarah Ann his wife seems to be born in 1861 March 1/4 Birmingham. A big thanks for that one.

Now William Seaby  and Hannah looks right for 1891, my gran was born 1898 she is Elsie May, her sister l think is Dorothy Jane born abt 1896 (l knew her as aunt dolly) a couple of years older than Elsie. Possibly a brother or two.   l noted that you had Seavey is that a typing mistake because its definitely SEABY so hopefully you can find them in 1901, Gran was born Birmingham, birth cert says 35 Cuthbert Road. l.m pretty sure that William Seaby was born in Northamptonshire. Hannah Seaby l have as born in Aston, Birmingham and thats where they were married. l really appreciate all your help and any information will be really helpful.

Many many thanks.

OK Tarnee It is difficult when u begin and unfortunately having a terrible  time with these people of yours...actually that one I gave you from 1891 is posibly Soovey but we must remember that how is transcribed in a census entry is not necesarily correct merely how the enumberator heard the name and then how he spelled it so certainly very tricky.....I have tried again with 1901 and afraid I am still having no joy there.... cannot find the family at all....I have tried everything I can think of to no avail...missed the census or so poorely transcribed I just dont know...alas with a place like Birmingham I cant even try for the childrens names as christian name and look for a possible varient of the surname as there r just hundreds of 3 year old Elsies born birmingham and the same with 5 year old Dorothys....Cannot come up with anyone with a name even vaguely similar to Seaby at all to fit any member of the family

Even re William Plante I find a man who may be him in 1881 but if so he was previously married. I cannot find this family in 1891 so a possibility there but if so he is an iron plate worker I find the same family in 1871 and just cannot c another suitable man...by 1891 and 1901 he certainly appears born about 1851
here is the linc to the 1881 entry
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp

I even went back to 1851 and find none listed with middle names to help ....There r none with an e there is one born 1847 ...There r 2 born 1849 and one of those has a father George Iron Plate Worker so would suggest this would very likely be the William from 1871 and 1881 with eldest son being George and listing as tin Plate Worker.....Do you have marriage certs with fathers names to confirm or disprove this?

Sorry to not be any help today but have tried

Hi Kris,

Thank you again for helping, the info you gave me has been a big help and gives me  more to go on, at least l know they did exist. l really do appreciated the time you have taken to help me out. l had tried all the other Plante's with the Hodson as middle name and after getting my grandfathers birth cert found William James. l have no marriage certs as yet but will send for these two sets of ggreat grandparents and see what comes back.

kind regards.
