Rendlesham Lookup - BROOK(S)
« on: Sunday 31 January 10 15:44 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyone who could look up the Rendlesham Parish Records for me.  I am looking for a baptism for WILLIAM BROOK(S) around 1781. He married Hannah BIRCH in Charsfied in 1809.  He is living in Charsfield in the 1851 census with his son William and his wife Eliza.  William gives his age as 60 and his birthplace as Rendlesham.  William's other son son ISAAC BROOK(S) baptised Dallinghoo 1813 is my direct ancestor. The family seemed to live and  work in and around Charsfield.  I should be interested in anyone else researching this family.

Dear Anne
Thank you so much for that information.  I have been trying to get this information for some time.  I have not been able to look at Rendelsham PR (the Soc of Gen do not have them) or get to Ipswich to see for myself. This gives me another generation back.  It has been difficult for me with this family as Ag Labs move about a lot and I do not know the area. Do you have Brooks in your family or have you just very kindly looked it up fo me?
Best wishes
Delia

Thank you.  That ties in with some information I got from another "rootschatter" giving a baptism for William Brooks son of Samuel Brooks and Mary Mobbs in Rendlesham in 1790.  Is Hacheston close to Rendlesham?
Many thanks
Delia

Fantastic information- thanks, Anne. Samuel Brooks (also Brookes) was my 3xGGF (from Roger Brook, a son from his second wife Sarah Marjoram.) He moved to Crowfield after this marriage and Roger subsequently moved on to Coddenham. By the time my Grandmother was born in 1880, the name had morphed into Brooke, which does make pinning this lot down rather challenging at times!

Kevin
