SIT problems since going back online
« on: Sunday 31 January 10 08:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi Bob,

In SIT, my "Show all..." match names seems to be working fine now but the "Surname Search" option does not work for some names.

The one that I was trying was "O'Brien" but I get a message saying "Couldn't read file".

Does this just mean that it's empty or is there a problem in the system there?

thanks for all your hard work,
Sheila

Hi again Bob.

separate message as separate problem but it may have the same or a related cause?

I'm now trying to add my O'Briens to my Surname interests.

The name exists on your list but I don't seem to be able to add it in because of the apostrophe.  It thinks I'm trying to add multiple names in one go and helpfully provides a back-slash for me but then can't accept that either.

I call that the O'Crikey Syndrome :)

Still working on the problem of using apostrophes as part of the name.

Thanks Bob,

that was a quick response.  I'll await the outcome with interest.

Bob

Small problem, have added two new surnames and despite adding country - England, this is not showing on the list, just dashes.  Am I doing something wrong?

Kerry, when adding England did you choose from the pull-down menu and then click on "Select Country" ??
