WILLIAMS travelling in Oxfordshire
« on: Saturday 06 February 10 16:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am tracing a gypsy family who travelled around Berkshire and Oxfordshire.  I am looking for the baptisms of the following:

Elisha WILLIAMS b1834 Wheatley
Richard WILLIAMS b1851 Henley-on-Thames

At the top of the tree is a James WILLIAMS all I know that he was born c1802-06 in Wokingham, Berkshire but he may well have been baptised in Oxfordshire, I have checked all obvious records in Berkshire.

I know it's a long shot, they didn't always baptise their children where they were born, but if anyone has easy access to these records, I would be very grateful for any help.

Hi, that's the same family, but I can't go back any further - it's very frustrating as I have gone back further with all my other names!!

I may just have to accept that this is as far back as I am going to get, and concentrate on finding out more about their fascinating lifestyle!

Thank you very much for taking the time to look  :)

You might like to think about having a search done of the OFHS's Oxfordshire Baptism 1537-1851 (see "Search Services" at www.ofhs.org.uk for full details).

Both Henley and Wheatley (and the respective surrounding parishes) are included.  Richard might just be "on the cusp" date-wise, but Elisha might be located if a baptism took place.
