I did think that that that this was my man some time ago, but I have since found him in the 1920s in a tobacco shop in Bilston. His family were publicans and in an earlier census he was cycle tyre fitter.

I have long suspected that this is the man I as the one i have been looking for.  The thing is in 1911, he is recorded as living in Stalybridge with his wife Ada and twelve month old child Arthur.  His parents brothers and sister have all moved and are living together in Wales.  I have wondered that maybe he was disowned by his family, but I cannot be sure about that obviously. I have tried a canadian search for him but have had no luck.  I have not managed to find any war records that fit either

I have found a passenger list on ancestry where i have an albert and a fred.  This Albert is a steel smelter and is 30 years old. He is going to longnueil in Montreal in Sept 1915 on the Corsican. I cant get his dates to quite fit the records for the Alberts that I know of. However on the same page there is a very faint Frederick Russell which is repeated on page 16. His records do fit more or less.  I dont know howI can findout where this Albert  and Fred came from originally

That Albert's surname is Travis, not Davis. Although the writing is not clear, the passenger list is in alphabetical order and the fact that he's listed between Thompson and Wright does indicate the surname starts with a "T".

You said Albert tried to take your Nan. Do you have any idea what year that would have been? If he was in England again, perhaps we can find a passenger list for his return.

What was your Nan's mother's name? Do you have your Nan's birth certificate? You should be able to tell from her birth certificate whether her parents were married and it should have an occupation for Albert listed.

Here's the death cert:

The 17th May 1932 we the undersigned priest have buried in the cemetery of this parish the body of Albert Davies guardian spouse of Azalie Charbonneau deceased the 16th of the current month aged 72 and six [months], of the parish of St-Vincent-de-Paul.
Witnesses Gédéon Giasson and Sal…… Maigret who have signed.

Couldn’t make out the name of the witness, it’s an unfamiliar one to me. Interestingly, the name Maigret occurs only 9 times in the 1911 Canada census, and they’re all in Alberta. Maigret seems to be a Belgian name.
