Hi Chris

Haven't found a use for the new site yet ... but took a look at the Sussex one (how didn't I find that earlier!? - it's great!).

Noticed you have Sussex emigrants to Sydney NSW in 1839, ... but nothing mentioned about the "James Pattison", which carried quite a number of Sussex emigrants to Sydney, late in 1839 (reached port in early 1840).  Amongst those on board were my John Delves, and the family of his two future wives - he married Charlotte Crouch first (sorry, I don't have my tree handy so have to work by memory here ... her name is incorrectly noted as "Crofts" in the paperwork for the voyage), and then when Charlotte died, leaving him with an infant to raise, he married her sister Caroline.

The Crouch family were about 6 or 8-strong on departure ... another four or five children were born in NSW.

 :)
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I'm researching: Powell, Tatham, Dunbar, Dixon, Mackwood, Kinnear, Mitchell, Morgan, Delves, & Anderson

Hi Deb

Wow, that Sussex site has been up since 2004 - nearly 6 years!!

When I did my Local History Certificate at Sussex University, we were given loads and loads of handouts, especially a load on emigration and photocopied lists from various parish registers including those of Salehurst and other East Sussex Parishes - I transcribed those registers and put them on the web, but I do not know if all the pages were given to us or if they missed a couple - that is why the list is not complete as obviously it did not include your ancestors.
I have those photocopies somewhere upstairs - will have to dig them out and re-check them

Hi netgrrl

Thanks chuck, I had forgotten about that, yes, you are correct as according to my site stats at least 3 have come via other browsers.

So have not got a reason at the moment

Katie, have you seen the latest page - my own autobiography (Childhood Memories) covering the first 12 years of my life - you might get a laugh out of it

Really good, Chris... just wish I lived close enough to my surviving grands to get their stories down on paper; and that I'd asked my late maternal grandad about his service in the RAF in WW2.
