I've moved your topic from IRELAND RESOURCES to ANTRIM LOOK UP REQUESTS but at the moment 1901 census is not indexed so you need a fairly clear idea of the address to find a particular family.
The 1901 census is supposed to be put online soon (National Archives saysing by mid-2010 at the moment) so you'll be able to search it free soon-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie
Meanwhile, there are a few 1901 fragments online- see this RESOURCES:

If you checked the link to census records in Resources that I posted above you will see that there is a 1901 census head of households index available online-

Hi,
   Do not have access to 1901 census but found a possible marriage;
Robert James Kerr married Sarah Ann Moran in Belfast, Urban 6 Roman Catholic Church on 18 Jun 1906.
   This couple are listed in the 1911 census (see Aghadowey's link) living at house No. 96 Northumberland St. (Woodvale Ward).

Browne, Barrett -Co.Armagh
Neil, Smyth _Co. Antrim

You said the family was in Portrush which is why I pointed out the 1901 census link but Portrush is nowhere near Belfast (about 60 miles apart).

Hi,
   Sorry for the confusion. If you use the Link www.nationalarchives.ie and go to Search Census, put in relevant details you should get husband, wife and three children. One is 12 years old which may indicate that Robert James was married before and his first wife had died. There is a Belfast Roman Catholic marriage to a Mary Sloane in 1892 but this is all conjecture.

thanks for that yes he was married before - william vincent  kerr was from his first wife mary sloane - they went to scotland to have him then went back to ireland by 1911 which is why i wanted to see if they were there in 1901- william was born 1897 and i suspect mary sloan died maybe in scotland as dont have death for her he marrried sarah ann moran as you describe. All i know of the family is that they were in portrush in 1920s when the family went to see them- otherwise they were unknown to us
