Help a computer buffoon today !!
« on: Saturday 13 February 10 14:08 GMT (UK) »
  :)  Hello all,

I can`t think of where else to post this....

Can someone explain, in very simple steps how to link two topics on Rootschat?

I have read the help pages but have no idea what `cut and paste ` are.  I`ve never cut and pasted anything !! Ever !! I can usually figure stuff out eventually but this has me stumped ???

I have Windows Vista if that makes any difference.

Thanks
Tracey

when you say link two items?
for example to link this post to another post you look in the address bar at the top,
highlight it and right mouse click and copy, then go to your other post and right mouse click and paste

and maybe the best place to put this post lol would be here

Click on this line to link to Google's Video Results for Cut and Paste technique

Moderator comment - link shrunk and shown as text rather than TINYURL or similar

Thanks Les,

I will go away now and try that  :P

Thank you to you both,

I posted a topic on a look up board, but now I want to post another one with a link to the first.

I tried the cut and paste thing but it says something about copyright.

Doh....

Kindest regards
Tracey

yes on those forums you cant use that method,
so you need to highlight the bit you want to copy and then press
ctrl and c, then go to where you want to paste it and either right mouse click and paste or press ctrl and v

I've been getting the message about copyright quite a lot over the last couple of days, even when I am copying and pasting one of my own comments!  I just ignore it and press paste, it works OK.  Then I highlight what I've pasted and click the icon next to the bottom on the BBC tags, so it's obvious it's a copy of something.
