Flying Officer Ayotte John Hector RCAF
« on: Monday 15 February 10 19:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm trying to trace F/O John Hector Ayotte, serialnr J45708. I'm doing a research since years about a crash of a Canadian Lancaster (KB-835) from 434 RCAF squadron on the 15 of March 1945. The aircraft came down at Landen (Belgium) not fare away from my home. John Hector Ayotte (called "Hec" by his friends) was the only survivor of this crash. I've his interrogation report and other info about the crash but would like to bring him or someone of his family in touch with the other familymembers. The squadron was stationed at Croft (UK/Yorkshire) in 1945.
I already could trace 3 familymembers of 3 crewmembers who were killed in action that night.
I don't have much information about "Hec", except that he was born after 1911 and that he probably lived in 1996 at Rosemont, Montreal. I don't know if he was a Frenchspeaking Canadian..perhaps because the name "Ayotte" sounds French to me but according to someone who's living in the UK and who knew him he didn't speak French.
Can someone help me with extra info about "Hec"?
Regards and greetings from Belgium
Alexander
