Hi Jenny

The burial of Winder age 96 matches yours, & note the younger Winder was buried in Throwley not Lenham as in my previous message. That's what comes of having too many records open at once!

Burial Lenham
1850 28th Oct Winder HARRISSON, age 96, Note: Lenham

Burial Throwley
1858 8th July Winder Harrison CRUTTENDEN age 23
Note: Late of T, but died in Ospringe

Possibly young Winder's grandparents?
Marriage Lenham
1795 19th Dec By Licence
John CRUTTENDEN otp
Elizabeth HARRISSON of Boughton Malherbe
Witnesses: Jn BARKER, Thos WALKER

In case you come across the surname RUCK in connection with Winder/Harrisson/Lancefield, this might be of interest:
Lenham Marriage
1809 14th Sep By Banns
John RUCK of Lambeth Sry
Elizbth Ann WINDER Sp, otp
Witnesses: John HARRISSON, Ann LANCEFIELD

Betty you are a gem  ;D

Thanks for the burial details!!

Yes I have come across the Ruck's Elizabeth Ann Winder is the sister of John Crispe Winder and therefore (I believe) the niece of Anne Lancefield, now my Anne Lancefield died in 1798, but she had a daughter named Ann born in 1783, so could easily be the witness at her cousins wedding in 1806!!!!

This is the first tangible tie between this Harrisson family and my Lancefield's  ;D

So excited!!

Hello All,

Now I took the initiative after getting the burial details for Winder Harrisson aged 96yrs and ordered his will to see what he had to say.......well in a short will he mentioned a lot  ;D

He appears not to have married, but has a great deal of nieces and nephews.

Will for Winder Harrisson, gentleman of Lenham, signed 13 Nov 1848, proved 7 Nov 1850
Mentions:
Nephew Edmund Harrisson and wife Sarah (son of late brother George Harrisson)
Nephew Thomas Winder Harrisson (son of brother George Harrisson)
Nephew John Harrisson (son of brother George Harrisson)
Children of nephew Edmund Harrisson - George Harrisson & Frances Sarah Harrisson
Son of nephew John Harrisson - James Harrisson
Son of nephew Thomas Winder Harrisson - Winder Harrisson
Mary Ann Lancefield (widow of late nephew Thomas Lancefield) and her children - Thomas Lancefield, Arthur John Lancefield, Mary Lancefield and Ann Haywood (nee Lancefield)
Horatio Bates of Egerton, Kent - Miller (son of late niece Frances Bates)
Nephew John Crispe Winder (son of sister Mary Winder)
Ann Missing? (daughter of late niece Ann Missing?)
John Gooding & Edward Buss - executors (not relatives)

So to my absolute delight finally I have the link I wanted to the Lancefield's!!!!! I am sooo happy!

I was wondering whether someone would be able to check the parish registers though for a couple of ones that I wasn't aware of:

Firstly can anyone see baptisms for Edmund Harrisson, Thomas Winder Harrisson or John Harrisson the sons of George Harrisson and his unknown wife? I assume they will be in Lenham or Charing.

Also can anyone see a baptism for Horatio Bates? he is described as son of his late niece Frances Bates, but I have no record of a Harrisson/Bates marriage or any details of a burial for a Frances Bates. he should be born about 1790's I suppose  :-\

The other rellie I cannot place at present is Ann Missing (or what looks like Missing or Nissing perhaps) daughter of his late niece Ann Missing (again can't read it really well). I have no record of a Harrisson/Missing marriage or a Lancefield/Missing marriage either....

The plot thickens!!

Any help would be great, you guys have helped brilliantly so far and it is all starting to work itself out finally  ;D

Egerton has an excellent family history website

You might find some clues there.  :)

I'm enjoying this thread, with pieces of the jigsaw slowly turning up ;D

I've made a start with the new bits ;D
Lenham
Nothing at all for NISSING.
Only two references to MISSING:
One baptism in 1949
One marriage in 1831 - Elizabeth MISSING to Samuel ROOK (witness surnames BURTON & MOORE)

To be continued...

Lenham
BATES
Only three marriages, nine baptisms, six burials.
One baptism with a father Horatio:
1830 11th Sep Frances  d of Horatio & Elizabeth BATES.
Note: Butcher

One marriage for an Horatio:
1815 11th July By Banns
Horatio BATES  Ba X  Charing
Mary Ann POWELL  Spr otp
Witnesses: James POWELL, Thomas POWELL

Nothing to link BATES with the surnames you already have, they didn't seem to want to use surnames as forenames, what a shame :(

I'll now have a look at HARRISSON baptisms in Lenham again.

Found this marriage (the same one Betty found) in Colburn's New Monthly Magazine 1815

Lenham
HARRIS(S)ON
The only children with George for a father  were three in the 1840s/1850s, and two early 1800s.
No George or Thomas Winder amongst them, but one is for an Edmund:
1850 6th Oct Edmund  s of George & Mary Ann HARRISON?
Notes: Otp (Malster)
(I think that should be Maltser)

What looks like more surnames used as forenames (just in case you come across them, they might be more jigsaw pieces) for HARRISSON children:
Withers (which I think you have mentioned), Holden, Harding, & Weeks.
