What is the uniform
« on: Friday 19 February 10 15:27 GMT (UK) »
This I a family mystery - his name is Cecil and he's standing with Polly, it was sent to 2 of my father's sisters and we have no idea who they are but I think identifying the uniform may send us in the right direction.
Heap - Holmfirth WRY
Rhodes-Flockton WRY & NE Cheshire
Ridgway- NE Cheshire & Lancahire
Roebuck - Upperthong WRY
Wild - NECheshire
Riley - NE Cheshire & Derbyshire
Greaves - NE Cheshire & Lancashire

Looks like he's wearing jodphurs, and I recall reading that the way the puttees are overlapped indicates mounted troops.

He's holding a bugle.

Is that something hanging down from his cap, at the back?

Cant put my finger on why, but I'm thinking Scottish regt.

Post WW1, early 1920's?

Pete

I know I have posted this before but it is being looked at with fresh eyes which are coming to different conclusions.

I think we have seen this one before as well!! ;D

It's a Glengarry on his head which made you think of Scots mate ;D

As for his tunic...It is not a Scots doublet (as seen in 2nd pic) I am still thinking Church Lads Brigade for the first one, and whichever Scots Regt for the second
One more charge and then be dumb,

May the victors when they come

As your kind link clearly states, the CLB were Army Cadets from 1911. I have several pics of the KRRC CLB in various (para) military uniforms that are not illustrated in the few pics from the era that they show.

They even wore complete WW1 SD as per front line troops (but without the 08ptn webbing...mainly!) but in a smaller size.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies I like the idea of the Church Lads brigade and I think Pollie looks younger on that one than on the other.
