Edwards in Speldhurst 1824
« on: Sunday 21 February 10 18:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I have hit a wall for some two years, with not finding more information about the parents/ origins of James Edwards born in 1824 in Speldhurst.  I have looked up the census records ok and each time he says he was born there.
I know pretty much the rest of his life.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Christopher

Hi Christopher and welcome to Rootschat  :)

Have you discounted James Edwards born 21st March 1824, baptised 25th April 1824, parents James Edwards and Harriott, at Mount Ephraim Lady Huntingdon's chapel, Tunbridge Wells, about two miles from Speldhurst?  This is an extracted parish record on the IGI at familysearch http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

Who was James with in the 1841 Census?

Kind regards
Gaie

Doing a parent search on the IGI (only filling in James Edwards and Harriott as parents, GB, England, Kent) brings up James, William, Henry (Harry) and a Sarah being baptised at Mount Ephraim Lady Huntingdon's, and Emma, Harriott, Esther and Ellen being baptised at Speldhurst.

Sarah was born/baptised 1822 so had probably married/left the household by 1841 - that's if she hadn't died before then.

Thank you Gaie, talk about right under your nose and cant see it, it must be this family, I saw in a marriage certificate that James Edwards was a widower when he married Ann Best, so Harriott must have passed on, so it all fits.
Thank you so much.
