Davies family research
« on: Saturday 19 March 05 19:41 GMT (UK) »
I would like to start my research on my family tree, problem is the name is Davies which is very common.
               Only info. so far is:

Mother's name:    Lorna Winifred Davies died 1983 age approx 51
Mother's sister's names: Carole and wendy Davies
Mother's parent's names: Geoffrey and Winifred Davies (he was a river boat captain, and she was a headmistress)
They lived at 167 Mount Pleasant Road, Wallasey, in 1951.

Does anyone have any information, or can anyone advise me on where to go from here. Thanks.
Davies  wallasey , liverpool

Hi

Your mother's date of birth should be in the GRO death indexes if she died in England or Wales.  These can be searched online http://www.1837online.com

Do you not know who registered the death or the whereabouts of the certificate to ease your search as date and place of birth will be on the actual certificate as supplied by the informant at the time.

Once you have a date of birth, then you can search for a birth entry which will give her mother's maiden name to enable you to search for her parents marriage.

Good luck

Welcome Davies searcher.

I also am a Davies researcher, not in your area, but my lot came from Shropshire.  I have not found that the name has caused me too many problems, even on the Welsh boarders so I think that you may not have too much trouble once you get started.  Good luck ;D
