Lloyds at Atcham
« on: Wednesday 24 February 10 15:08 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find a death for my great grandfather Edward Lloyd who I know very little about. He was born 1849 in or around Atcham. His wife was Mary Ann Evans and you would never believe how many people had those names in that area !

He is still around in the 1891 Census but by 1901 his wife and daughter Minnie are living in Broseley. The 1891 Census says he was farming 26 acres on a farm at a place called Bauseley near Atcham. My grandmother's birth certificate calls it Shotton Bauseley but I think Shotton was the name of the farm. It was right on the borders of Wales in fact the actual house was over the border technically. I have searched for his death with no luck and I keep wondering if he ended up in an asylum as his daughter Minnie eventually worked in such an establishment in Salisbury in the 1911 Census. His other daughter Abigail emigrated to America and according to family rumour there was another daughter who died between Abigail and Minnie. Minnie was born in 1884.

Have you got the ref for them at the farm in 1891? I cant see them. (I can see an Edward and Mary Lloyd of right ages, with dtr Mary, but he is a labourer and not on a farm)

Minnie age 6 is a visitor at RG12 2100 86 13 if you havent got her in 1891

No that's  not him just another of the hundreds of Edward I'm afraid. Ive come across  the Madely one before he is one below my EL in the GRO birth indexes for June 1849. The hunt goes on !

Did the other Edward die around this time too then?

There is one on 1901 who might be the other one still alive(wife Elizabeth), meannig death likely to be your one.

Have you actually got the death cert before ruling it out?

(Madely is the registration district, by the way).

Hi,
appreciate that this post was a while ago but I just wanted to ask if you were able to find out any more about Shotton Bauseley? We were going through my late grandfather's belongings and found his father's birth certificate which shows he was born in Shotton Bauseley in 1898 but we haven't been able to find anything about it except for your post.

Thanks.
