Hello Lindsey and a warm welcome to Rootchat... for me personally I leave you at Hannah Lillywhite on your family tree, I am descended from her daughter Hannah Chase (1739 - 1819 ) (sister to Sarah) so go off in another direction to the Flegg family.  Hannah Chase married James Rodgers (sometimes spelt Rogers) in 1761 and had they had 5 children.

I have also just registered, having Googled Uvedale.  I am also a great x10 granddaughter of ellen uvedale and wondered if there was now a definite version of her parentage, whether she was the daughter of sir william or his brother thomas uvedale?   My line appears to be through the bettesworths to john lillywhite.

Hello Hazykay and a warm welcome    In short, I have not (personally) been able to find anything to confirm Ellen's parentage, so have tentatively given her parents -  Thomas Uvedale & Margaret Norton (with a note in my tree referring to William Uvedale) My line descends through Thomas Lillywhite (John's brother) ? and would be happy to share info on Thomas if you would like it.

Ahh Hazykay... my line is John's sister Hannah (1708-1749)
Hannah married John Chase in East Meon in 1737, they had 5 daughters (no sons)  Hannah died 2 days after giving birth to her last daughter Susannah in May 1749, sadly Susannah died the following week.   The remaining girls survived, Sarah, Hannah, Olive & Rebecca.

My line descends from their daughter Hannah.

I may have found your answer: (Ref: History of Parishes of Colmer & Priors Dean, 1880. By Rev Thomas Harvey [copied by Google]). Search parameters used for net search: Sir Peter Bettesworth and Ellen Uvedale. See: Pgs 276 - 279:

Pg 277, para 2: "Sir Peter was married (the first time) at Colmer, July 19, 1587, to Ellen, daughter of Wiliiam Uvedale of Wickham."

The marriage records for the Parish of Colmer, Priors Dean, Hampshire, England, will confirm this.

Hello and a warm welcome to Rootschat.  Many thanks for your input, I do have the details  of the marriage of Sir Peter & Ellen on 19 July in Colemore, unfortunately there is no further information on it other than Peter & Ellen and their residence..  no parents (as is often the case)  I have quite a bit of info for Sir Peter and his family, but still nothing 'concrete' to link Ellen to either Thomas or William Uvedale. I have William's will .. no mention of a daughter Ellen..  I've just got Thomas's will but haven't been through it yet.. so may be Ellen will be in that.. she is a mystery still
