Mitchell family, Castle Douglas
« on: Sunday 20 March 05 02:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm looking for information about the above family who, I believe, were jewellers (possibly until fairly recently) in Castle Douglas.

Any clues gratefully received!

Hi Audrey,

Thaks for the info - good to know how big a place I'm looking at!

I've tried all the directories, yellow pages etc, but can't find a Mitchell jeweller in Castle Douglas. Maybe my informant had it wrong.

Perhaps you could answer another question for me. One source I looked at (can't remember where) had Castle Douglas in Dumfries & Galloway. Are the counties connected?

Ros

I too am looking for the Mitchells from around Castle Douglas. My  grandfather Robert was a jeweller but moved to Birmingham and died in 1918 flu epidemic. I think he had a sister or cousin Jessie.
