CAMPBELL and PERKINS/STEVENS
« on: Friday 26 February 10 22:08 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyone out there researching John "Tinker" Campbell who was married to Temperance Perkins (Stevens)? I was orginally led to believe that this couple were born in Perthshire, Scotland and some time after their marriage (date unknown) immigrated out to Australia. However, it now looks possible that they were actually born in America and came to Australia from there. John and Temperance apparently had 7 children altogether of which Robert Perkins Campbell is the direct ancestor born in NSW in 1834. I would so love to hear from anyone who is also researching this family tree as I have so little information on them and what I have appears not to be 100% correct.
Many thanks in advance. Cheer. mygirlbill

Thank you Cando. Yes, I already have that information as of yesterday via the Perthsire, Scotland site. Am still looking for more though and am keen to find out if they did indeed come to Australia from the U.S. Cheers. mygirlbill

I linked the thread to save others duplicating the research.  However I am wondering if given the info yesterday, you wrote today that your ancestor Robert Perkins CAMPBELL was born 1834 when the parish records indicate a birth baptism 1844.  I see you are taking your information from an online tree so I guess it now up to you to validate the information.

Good luck.

Cheers ;D

Hello Cando! The 1834 was indeed a typing error. 1844 is the correct year. Cheers! mygirlbill.

You're spot on Sparrett as Amelia Temperance Campbell was indeed a daughter of Robert and Rose Gonzales (Gonsarlus) The couple had 9 children altogether but I know very little about them. I don't know how you people find all this information! I can't seem to take a trick. Lol. It would appear then that John and Temperance were both born in America and not in Perthshire Scotland. The plot thickens. Lol. Thank you so much Sparrett as you've added a couple more pieces of information to the Campbell/Perkins puzzle. Cheers. mygirlbill

To add to this, the actual date of death given for Temperance is 14th December, 1877.
