mygirlbill,

The Queensland Index search tricked me u ntil I got used to it. I still enter the search between dates using the wrong format at times.

I'm afraid the year is the only information you will get from the indexes. The only reason I could give you dates pre 1889 is because I have a disk for the early bdm.   :-\

However, at least the index does give you the year, the parents, and you know which state. For more than that, I'm afraid it is certificates.    :(

Hi,
I'm unsure if there is still activity in this chat stream, here goes.  I'm trying to find a little more about John Campbell and his brother-in-law John Stevens early years on the Darling Downs, 1841 to about 1845.  I thought perhaps someone in the family might have more information.  One of my own my family crossed paths with both men around the same time.

Cheers
