Charles Meese-possible emmigrant
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 15:55 GMT (UK) »
My grandfathers brother Charles was born in Bath, Somerset, UK in 1890. On his birth cert he is Charles Meese, mother unmarried & father not shown. The 1901 census list him as Charles Meese Kennedy & his mother a widow. He does not apper In the 1911 census & I can find no death record. Did he emmigrate under some scheme for children said to be orphans? If so where? Can anyone help?

Is he the one shown on freebmd as "Charles St Clair K    Meese" in 1890?

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/001015-100.01-e.php
 - shows a "Charles S Meese" arriving in 1902 aged 11.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tweetybirdgenealogy/ssnewenglandjul1902.html
- gives him as Meese, Charles Sinclair

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tweetybirdgenealogy/sepoct1902.html
Charles S Meese L, w Robert J Williams, South Monaghan (e.g Robert J. Williams was the head of the household where he was staying).

I think that at http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/ this is Robert John Willan in South Monaghan, by 1911 he's "John Willan" still living in the area with his sister Charlotte.

Thanks. He doesn't seem to be in the 1911 Canada census. Any suggestions what happened to him? He was born Charles St. Clare Meese in Bath, UK in 1890. 3rd illegitimate child of Clara Meese. 2nd child was my grandfather Lancelot Eldred Rodney Meese born 1887. Looks like Charles was put in Dr. Barnados home & then sent to Canada.
