Can anyone tell me where the name Logie comes from in these place names, please.

Hi Rowana,

My brother in law is a Logie, no idea what the name means, but there is a Logie on the way up towards Aberdeen and also towards John O'Groats

So kyou can add them to your list.  I would google maps and have a look, then if you are researching the Logie family I would suggest finding the Family History Societies for each area as a back up, have a look at the MI for each area, whilst either posting for those areas in Scotland on their boards and asking for assistance.

I would help, but I am out of credits for SP at the moment which is a pay per view site. And I cannot see me be able to buy more credits for a while.

"Logie" in placenames derives from the Scottish Gaelic logan or lagan, meaning a hollow.
