Herbert THOMAS
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 21:34 GMT (UK) »
Herbert Thomas b 23 March 1882 Ovendon Halifax Yorkshire married Teresa Ellen Ingrey  in Wellington New Zealand in 1909 and I  think soon after returned to Teresa's homeland Australia. Teresa was born in NSW Australia approx 1870. they had no children and Teresa died 8 May 1948 aged 78 years at Glebe and buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery Rookwood NSW.

Herbert Thomas was still alive at the time and living at 37 Colbourue Ave ( I think that  is how it is spelt) Glebe NSW I would like to know when Herbert died and where he is buried, can anyone help please? Herbert was my Grandma's brother.

Hi Sue,

I tried this but it gave no result, I also put in his wife Teresa which I have a copy of the death certificate and it also came up with nothing. It seems they are not totally up to date.

Thanks
Carole

Firstly there is no headstone on Teresa's grave.

I suggest you search for just the death of Herbert THOMAS - no parents between 1954 and 1979.  There are a number of registrations with no parents noted.

I did note this one however
10863/1958
THOMAS Herbert
Father Henry  Mother Elizabeth
District Newtown

Transcriptions of certificates are available in NSW - considerably cheaper and quicker than a certified certificate.

Australian Electoral Roll
1954
THOMAS Herbert  35 Colebourne Avenue, Glebe   Produce Merchant

Carole lots of links to online cemetery records in NSW

If Herbert is buried at Rookwood Anglican or Rookwood Independent, there is no headstone.

Hi,
With no offspring known and perhaps no kin in Australia, it may not be surprising that the mother's name is not quite correct on a death certificate.
There was perhaaps no informed informant!
