A Suggestion - local Register Offices

Because someone asked in another thread about the benefits of ordering certificates through local Register Offices.  People have shared their experiences in this thread, so there is a great deal of useful information here.  I thought when I started it that it would work well as a pinned thread, but unfortunately nothing was done about that.

Very helpful thread, though I have to admit I've bought nearly all mine from the GRO. The few I've had from local register offices were typewritten or handwritten - modern handwriting - and didn't look as neat as the ones from the GRO (though the local offices were helpful in making sure I had the correct certificates).

I hadn't realised that local office copies might (of a scanned copy of the original) include the signatures... might enquire about a few important ones.
