Thanks Cando

I had previously found that newspaper article and considering the Treasure families long... history with criminal activities I would not be surprised that she was associated with this type of man.

Yes, it may be fruitful to get the death certificate of Edward RAFFERTY.

Mary Ann TREASURE was baptised at Stoke Lane, Somerset on 6 May 1821.

And I agree I too think I need to get a life..... but these Treasures are just so interesting.

Thank you so much for your valuable input.

Kind Regards,

Veanne Treasure

Edward YOUNG who died 6 Oct 1871 aged 70 is buried at West Terrace Cemetery  Section Road 1 North, Path#39 and Grave#5

There are others buried at the same location at a much later date which suggests the grave was re-leased.

Wonder if this Edward YOUNG is Mary Ann's husband...in1867

Thanks Cando

No need to decipher, we have all of that information. She was quite a little Treasure, as were her siblings, which included our gg-grandfather. Her parents Levi & Betty had 13 children - 4 died in childhood - 7 involved in the courts (including their father) - 2 girls lived normal lives.

Actually, you may know this one (or perhaps someone else out there) - In the conduct record of Tasmania, it listed one of her crimes as "two years on the town".  Does that mean what I think it means or was she homeless?

Hi Vee & Cando
Thank you Cando for all your additional input into the life and times of our Aunt. (Prostitution, indeed!  ;)
I visited the West Terrace Cemetery yesterday and, sure enough, it was an unmarked grave.  That was a bit disappointing however, as my wife pointed out, we were probably the first 'visitors' she has had since she was buried there all those years ago.  So the trip was not a waste.
I will organise getting a copy of Edward Rafferty's death cert.
Thanks to you both.

Hi Bill

To share the load I will order a copy of the death cert of Mary Ann BAKER and hopefully it will have some clue that it is or isn't her.

Thanks for going out to the cemetery,

Vee
