Sprouston - Thomson

Can anyone please help with the following?

Robert Thomson according to 1861 census onward born Sprouston 1831/33.

 Mother on marriage cert Margaret Thomson no father.
 On death cert. father James Thomson, tailor, mother Margaret Thomson nee Thomson.

Have been unable to find him 1841/51 census Roxburgh nor any other place, what Berwick census I have don't show him, next seen 1859 on marriage at Hume & 1861 census living with in laws Hume, after that at Duns.

Thank you very much for that info. slight difference in age but to be expected, shown 28 on marriage.
Will follow up marriage of Margaret now.
