William "Billy or Kingfisher O' the North" Melton
« on: Thursday 11 March 10 16:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Looking for info on William "Billy or Kingfisher O' the North" Melton bn 18 Dec 1863 in Scarborough. Between 1881 and 1923 he was a Deep Sea Fisherman. Died June 1942 Tynemouth. At some time he went to prison for Manslaughter. He apparently tried to take his boat out of the harbour, while under the influence of alcohol, and alone, when he ran over a rowing boat containing three men, all of whom died. I haven't got a wife for William or siblings. I do believe that he was made a "Skipper" at the age of 19? Regards Bullamore

But 1881 he is a servant (no mention of deep sea fishing)

I guess you have it as 1881 is free to search

RG11 4731 124 7

Cant see him in 1891 - must be off fishing!
