http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/.
If you order before 6 April you will pay the current price of £7 per certificate. From 6 April the cost goes up to £9.25 per certificate.
Generally I don't think people thought of children as disposable, even in the most desperate of circumstances. Unfortunately where parents died or were long-term sick or unemployed, or had too many children to feed, sometimes there was no choice but for the children to be brought up outside their birth families. Where siblings were separated at an early age they might well have forgotten each other over the years, especially as they would probably not have been encouraged to hark back to the past.
