Greasley Parish Registers? Completed

If anyone has access to a searchable baptism register for Greasley could they please have a look for Em(m)anuel Stev(ph)enson born c.1846 - frustratingly I have found GRO index references for every other child in the family (apart from the first 2 who are born too early), but not Emmanuel who is my direct ancestor.

Hi

Have you seen the 'BULK baptisms'  at Nuthall, Nottinghamshire on the IGI with parents Edward and Hannah on 20th March 1859 - it includes an Emanuel and a couple of others that match  (batch no C061121)

The vital records index has some Greasley baptisms but far too early for this family

   Ooooh Rosie,

I think you've got them, Herbert is one I've not come across before, but perhaps he was born and died between 1851 and 1861 - will have to look further into that one. Plus Emmanuel's apparent first child was named Herbert.

I did wonder about Herbert but thought it was worth a gamble  There is a death for a Herbert Stevenson June qtr 1859 but also a couple of births immediately before in Basford RD ... and probably if I look some PH's as well.

Hi Rosie,

Yes I agree, the death in Q2 1859 looks probable, and either of the births in Q3 1852 or Q2 1853 fit comfortably between Louisa (Q1 1851) and Elizabeth (Q1 1855). Not that I shall be ordering up all the certificates, I try to restrict myself to direct ancestors, and now the price is going up even those will be spread further apart.

What a shame there isn't a note of the dates of birth for all the children baptised together - I might just put another look-up request on the board to see if anyone has access to the Nuthall registers, otherwise I might never know Emmanuel's actual date of birth!

Hi Belinda

Nuthall is covered on the Notts FHS CD, but only the baptism date is given no birth dates.  The father is listed as a Collier.

There are a few burials for Nuthall

Herbert Stevenson 29.6. 1859 aged 6

Edward Stevenson 9.12. 1890 aged 79
Hannah Stevenson 12.5. 1883 aged 71
