Florence TAYLOR in Birmingham (born Queensland, Aust.)

Hi, I am researching a relative Florence Mary GREEN. She was born in 1869 in Queensland, Australia. Her parents and sister came back to England in about 1871, returning to the Birmingham area. I have been trying to trace what happened to Florence. She appears with her family in 1881.

There is a promising entry in the 1901 census for a Florence TAYLOR, b. Queensland Aust., wife of Joseph, (& 7 kids) who are living in Aston (ref:  RG13/2878, Folio 111, Page 33). The oldest two are Arthur (b. c.1890) and Alice (b. c.1891). The 1911 confirms that Florence had a middle name Mary.

But I cannot find a marriage for Florence and Joseph, and I can't find them in the 1891 census.

If you have them in 1911 then you ll know they were supposed to have been married for 25 years. I can t find a marriage either, perhaps they did nt get married or later than we thought.

Thanks Cathy, I was looking for them married - I didn't expect that Florence would not yet be his wife. Both seemed to have lied about their ages in 1891. I wonder where the two children Arthur and Alice were on this census...and who's children were they? I think you're right in saying that they didn't get married until 1905, that looks right.

It's also difficult working out which births for the children on FreeBMD are the right ones because there are so many Taylors...and would they appear under Taylor or Green if Joseph and Florence weren't married? I don't know...
