 Various cousins have been working on a family from the Maurik area and we are back to a chap born about 1743  from his age at death. We can't find him baptized under the name he was married under and it seems possible that he was illegitimate and perhaps not the son of the man his mother married. I have read that there were paternity suits in which the man was pursued to support the child and in which the mother would attempt to restore her reputation by asserting that he promised her marriage, but I don't know if these would be preserved in the archives or in which archives to look.
