Hi Jan
I went to The Hive on Monday but no luck- I searched St Peters', St Nicholas and St Andrews in Droitwich but found nothing. Are you sure it was Droitwich itself or another parish in Droitwich registration district?

As to Ward =Wade- I searched St Georges, St Marys and St Johns=no luck.

Could they have been non conformists?

Will try again next visit
Avril

Hi Jan
If you are confident that the Ward-Wade marriage is definitely the one you need, wouldn't a certificate give you all the info?
Malmesbury- Bishop.
Gloucestershire-Bishop,Hicks,Higgs,Hill,Hooper,Hopkins,Pitcher,Robertson,Stinton,Terret,Woodruff.
Worcestershire-Stinton.
Devon- Borrough or Burrow.

Hi Avril

Sorry for the late reply - been away

Thank you for taking the time to look up the marriages for me - much appreciated. You are a star!

I'm afraid I made a mistake on my post as Joseph Dovey and Mary Knight married 1839 not 1939 as I put previously - so sorry for wasting your time  :(

StintonLomas - Amelia Wade is very distant to me and I do realise that the marriage cert will tell me more - BUT £9.25 for information on a distant relative is a bit too much to pay out at the mo. As I knew Avril was visiting, I asked if it was possible to look them up, which she very kindly did.

Thanks once again Avril, very sorry for the mistake

Happy Hunting everyone  ;)
Cheers
JAN

HI ALL. MY MOTHER IS BORN A KNIGHT HERE IN CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA. I CAME ACROSS A GRAVE IN THE CHURCH YARD OF THE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH IN CALEDON BEARING THE NAME WILLIAM KNIGHT FROM SOMERSETHIRE. HE IS BURIED WITH A CELTIC CROSS. ANY CONNECTION AT ALL FROM YOUR SIDE?

MY OLDEST KNOWN ANCESTOR WAS KNOWN AS WILLIAM HERMANUS CHARLES KNIGHT AND WAS BORN IN 1866. ALL KNIGHT FAMILIES SEEM TO BE CONCENTRATED IN THE CALEDON AREA OF THE CAPE TOWN, WESTERN CAPE PART OF SOUTH AFRICA.
