Hi HH,
Could give us a little more information? It is just about impossible to trace a person with nothing but surname.
Do you know her first name? Date of birth? Husband's name? Other family members who went with her? Where they settled in Canada?
If you want to start looking around on your own, this is a good site to start with:
        http://www.genealogy.gc.ca/10/100803_e.html

If you can come up with more info, post it here and perhaps I or someone else will be able to give you more help.
Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationararchives.gov.uk

Current obsessions:
OXF: Rose of Wheatley and Holton 1700s
BRK: Stevenson of East Hanney 1600-1880s
BKM: Woodman of Wing
DEV: Youlden of Whimple
SOM: Smith, Gudge, Joy and Tett of Crewkerne

It seems the family story was a little inaccurate. The person who emigrated- to Australia- was Charlotte Ferguson, nee Longmuir, married to Henry Ferguson, a builder. She was the daughter, not widow, of William Fisher Longmuir. They would have emigrated between 1869 and 1892. Any good tips on finding out where they went? They lived in Dundee before emigrating.
