aghadowey I have not tried the 1911 census for Humphries as I could not make out the spelling on my
granddads deaths certificate, on the 1911 census I looked up the Fitzpatrick,s it came up as Bray wicklow
Roscommon Dublin it looks right but I am not sure, my dads age looks right also his sister and his brother
but it says his brother was born in Scotland but I don't see how he could be, as I know he was born in Ireland

it looks like they married in 1906 .. there's a good match on the Civil Index :

 Name: Michael Fitzpatrick
 Registration district: Rathdown
 Record type: MARRIAGES
Quarter and year: Apr - Jun 1906
 Volume: 2 /  Page: 804

 Name: Kate Humphries
 [same index details]

this would probably place Kate's year of birth at about 1888 or earlier (assuming age 18 at least)

maybe they left for Scotland before the 1911 census took place .. do you have her parents name ?

how about this family on the 1911 census ?

Michael & Kate Fitzpatrick, married 5 years, living at 21 Bray Commons

Three children, some seem to be from a previous marriage.

Shanew147 thank you for the help you have given me this has given me some hope
my granddad and gran left for Scotland in 1915 as my dad told me
he left Bray co Wicklow when he was 13, his mother Mary Kinsella died age 28 on 1904
then my granddad married my gran Catherine Humphries about 1906 or 1907

this could be Catherine's family... William & Annie Humphreys, Clifton Lane, Bray

They seem to be the only Humphreys family in the Bray area that fit

this couple are married 25 years, the Kate on the other form is 24
the return appears to state they have 8 living children, yet just 4 are listed at home
the eldest at home is age 20.. leaving a gap for Kate..

A marriage cert should show Catherine's father's name, and prove or disprove this connection

The handwriting in 1911 census entry is hard to read - has been transcribed as 'Thon' but is 'Jhon' which probably should have been JOHN. How do you know that the youngest child was born in Ireland- do you have the birth certificate? If not, suggest looking for his birth in Scotland (Soctland's People website).
As Shane has said, from the census details it looks like Michael or Kate were married previously.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I saw that name, but was not sure what it reads. The census has transcribed it at Thon... but I'm not certain that the first letter is a T.. it looks a little different to the T in Thomas. The Irish for John is Eoin. I wonder is it just a 'typo' by his father.. and he wrote Jhon by mistake instead of John?

You mentioned that the family moved to Scotland at some point .. maybe they were in Scotland for while around the time of the youngest sons birth, and later decided to return - possibly for work opportunities ?

found a possible index match for the death you mentioned

 Name: Mary Fitzpatrick
 Registration district: Rathdown
 Record type: Death
Quarter and year: Jan - Mar 1904
Age: 28 (est birth year: 1876)
 Volume: 2 / Page: 791

(sorry -aghadowey, didn't realize I posted just after you.. I didn't get the red warning)
